Profiles
- Loud Bee opens with Who’s practicing? Tap a profile to practice, or tap Add a profile to give someone their own name and color. Profiles stay on the device.
- To change who’s practicing, tap Switch profile. Loud Bee stops reading and keeps the spelling being typed.
- Every profile shares the same word sets. Results, missed words, and progress belong to each profile.
Adding a word set
- Open Word Lists and tap Scan QR code. Loud Bee asks to use the camera the first time. Point it at the word set’s QR code.
- Loud Bee downloads the set, checks it, and saves every recording it lists. A set is ready to practice once its sounds are saved.
- Camera turned off: the scan screen offers Open Settings, where you can turn camera access back on.
- A few sounds still need saving: tap Try again. Loud Bee downloads only the sounds that are left, and keeps everything it has already saved.
- This code doesn’t contain a word-set link: the QR code holds something other than a word set’s web address. Ask whoever shared it for the right code.
- Scanning the code of a set you already have brings in its newest version. The date it was added and everyone’s results stay as they were.
Sound and voices
- No sound: check your device’s volume and silent mode, then tap Hear the word to listen again.
- A word is read by a different voice: words without a recording are read by your device’s built-in voice. If Loud Bee says a matching voice is needed, add that language’s voice in your device’s settings.
- Slow reads at a gentler pace. It never changes the spelling Loud Bee checks for.
Making your own word sets
A word set is a JSON file. It has a name, the ages it suits, and a list
of words, each with its spelling, a definition, and a sentence. A word
can have a recording of each, or null for the device’s
voice to read it:
{
"schemaVersion": 1,
"id": "our-spelling-words",
"name": "Our spelling words",
"locale": "en-US",
"createdByName": "Ms. Rivera",
"minAge": 6,
"maxAge": 9,
"words": [
{
"id": "nectar",
"word": "nectar",
"audioURL": null,
"definition": "A sweet liquid made by flowers.",
"definitionURL": null,
"sentence": "The bee collected nectar from the flower.",
"sentenceURL": null
}
]
}
Put the file, and any recordings, on a website anyone can reach at an
https address. Make a QR code of the file’s address, and
scan it in Word Lists. If Loud Bee can’t use a set, it says why after
the scan, and nothing is added.
Privacy
Loud Bee has no accounts, ads, or tracking. Our privacy policy explains what stays on your device and what a scan downloads.
